Farotto's Pizza: a family owned pizzeria that started with a little shop in the Rock Hill suburb of STL.
Many pizza places in STL also serve toasted ravioli: not it's not ravioli put in a toaster, it's breaded with savory bread crumbs, deep fried and served with marinara sauce on the side. You dip it in the sauce instead of smothering it with sauce-- which ruins the crispiness.
Fast Eddie's in Alton, IL: there's nothing quite like it
Bus loads of seniors will come here during the day. People getting off work come here in the evening.. It's the mother of all burger bars. Live music or sports on TV sets. They are one of the biggest sellers of beer in the metro STL area. The food is great and relatively cheap. Cocktail shrimp, steak on a stick, sausages, burgers... it's here and it's good.
